"The Akarra 2 team launches akarra.com and begins testing some initial quests. Their shard has some an interesting noob town, but is overall too ambitious."

I feel I must make a comment about this, as I was the quest scripter and story writer for the noob town. In principle, the ideas were sound. I have the flow chart open in front of me and the newbie town was pretty damned complicated. Perhaps I did overstep myself.

There were 50 different dialog screens stemming from 5 NPCS and these 5 NPCs gave roughly 12 quests. Debugging this newbie town alone was hellish. I was learning the scripting on the fly.

Then, it was planned to have quests for every possible skill, and some random NPCs and random quests (some of which I'm quite proud of). Overall, 57 NPCs were fully scripted and I count 33 finished quests.

It would have worked as well(!) but I decided to bail as the project was wa-ay too time consuming..

Awesome timeline, looking forward to the articles! Would just like to make it clear we had no affiliation with Trance or his team and we did launch Project Phoenix, but it went inactive after Origon and Braiba became inactive with real life issues. =)

Thanks Satch, but I think this will be better. Hopefully it'll even be updated more than once per week! :)

"Over the year, the readers of the update have become more and more irritated by this, which is sometimes reflected by their replies."

Don't listen to them!

Reading the development journal had become a part of my weekly schedule some months back. My opinion is that any development news, regardless of project, is always interesting and inspiring.

I wish you guys the best of luck - you deserve it. Keep the ideas fresh and executables flowing ;)
